To participate in our upcoming Glow Pinewood Derby race, all cars will need to be brought to the January Pack meeting on January 19th to be inspected, weighed, and turned in. Cars cannot exceed 5 oz and have to be 4.5″ or less in height. You must use either the glow-in-the-dark wheels that the pack provided (preferred to enhance the racing experience) or the wheels that come in the box. No external parts may be used from different companies.

If your car does not meet these requirements at the inspection you will need to modify your car at the pack meeting. Limited tools will be present to help with minor adjustments. If for some reason your car cannot meet the inspection rules then the car is ineligible to race but the car will be eligible for the design contest only.

This will be our first year running a glow-in-the-dark race so please decorate your cars so they illuminate under the black lights!

The design categories are Best Overall design, Best Scout design, and Best Glow Design. Voting on each of these categories will be done at the pack meeting.

Scouts will be provided a glow-in-the-dark t-shirt that will be handed out at the pack meeting on the 19th to wear for race day!

Race Day Details:
The Pinewood Derby race will take place at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 20th at the LDS Church at 1250 La Cienega Rd. San Marcos, Ca. It is the church building across the street from Helen Bougher Memorial Park.

Each car will race on each lane of the race track and the total scores from each race will determine the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners from each den. Then the 1st place winner from each den will race each other in our final race which will determine the Pack 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners! All medals and awards will be given out after the race.
